Hey,

I'll be upgrading my PC in the coming month and realized I don't know much about motherboards. I know what CPU is compatible with which socket and that my RAM is supported by all 370-series motherboards that I've looked at, but I've no clue if there's much more to this than that to get it all working.

Is there more to it? All help on this subject is welcome.

Right now I've been looking at a "Gigabyte H370 HD3, ATX-motherboard" from my country's biggest computer retailer (Jimms.fi) to go with an i7-8700.

Thanks beforehand.

My specs:

  • OS: Windows 10 Home 64-bit
    CPU: Intel Core i5 6500
    RAM: 16GB (2x8GB) HyperX Fury DDR4 2133 MHz, CL14
    Motherboard: MSI B150M MORTAR (MS-7972) (U3E1)
    GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 1070 Gaming X, 8GB GDDR5
    Storage: Western Digital 2TB WD Blue, 3.5", SATA III, 5400rpm, 64mb + Samsung 500GB 850 EVO SSD, 2.5", SATA III, 540/520 M
PSU: EVGA 650W SuperNOVA 650 GS, 100% modular, 80 Plus
Other: ARCTIC Freezer i32 CPU-cooler (aftermarket)

Solution
If similar price, sure H370 is better:

I can get a H370 for the same price as I could a B360 in Finland. Any reasons to pick the B360 over the H370 if this is the case?
