Hello, I now have 2x4gb RAM, but I want to upgrade it to at least 16gb.
Now am I wondering if it's possible to just add 1 8gb RAM stick or do i really have to get 2x4gb?

Also, my RAM speed is now 2133MHz, but I want my new RAM to be 3200MHz, is it possible to combine those 2 speeds?

Thanks in advance!

Solution
Mixing up RAM will not always work and adding a single 8 GB stick will not run in dual channel.
Also you cannot combine 2 speeds, they will then all run at the speed of the slowest RAM.
Best advice is to get a new 2x8 GB RAM kit.

As said hard to say whether the new and old will work together, but for arguments sake yes you could add 1x8 to the 2x4 and have dualchannel, just make sure that the 2x4gb sticks are placed in one channel and the 1x8gb stick in the other.
Also is Kasper right that if adding higher speed ram the sticks will run at the lowest speed.
