Secondary Streaming PC Specs question

Hey everyone. I'm try to justify buying my friend's PC. And maybe with it, I can get into streaming, IF I use his PC to do the streaming encoding separately from the primary, gaming PC.

I've already looked around the forums and it seems like it would be usable. But there's just one part of it that makes me hesitant. Online, people are saying I need at least 4gb of DDR4 RAM. But his has 8gb of DDR3 RAM. So is that okay???

Yes, maybe that's a noob question. But I am a noob, lol. I'm just hoping it'll be a noob-y stream WITH decent quality.

Thanks.

Oh, and these are his parts.

CPU: i5-4960K
Mobo: Asus B85m e/csm
64-bit type
RAM: 8gb ddr3
GPU: GTX 960

He thinks they are 1600 memory models... and he's giving me the PC for $200. So yeah.. seems pretty cheap! But on the other hand, I don't want to waste my time with something that only "kinda" works. I know I spend my time playing videogames sometimes, but I don't really wanna add to my real life frustrations. Just saying. oh, and the gpu will be included but that's no matter at the price-point.

Actually, it's TBD. lol. It recently broke. And since I'm thinking about streaming... maybe I can cut some costs on the gaming PC by ensuring a lot of the load is carried by this secondary PC. We'll see. I'm bidding on rigs on eBay right now, lol.

In any case, thank you. I'm going to see if I can get second opinions to ensure that I'll be okay. But still, I feel a lot better since you've shared your thoughts.
