Memory Compatibility Concerns

Howdy All,

Well, I have been steadily building a desktop PC for gaming and light character modeling, in the process of buying parts for it still. I decided to go with MSI's Z370 chipset, as I intend to be running an I5, though, if I decide I want the I7 instead, I wanted a board that would be compatible.

I am sorry if I am missing this in the forum somewhere or if this turns out to be a pretty basic answer. I made an impulse buy on some memory in the beginning when I found a good deal at Fry's. I bought the memory (link listed below) not thinking about checking compatibility for the motherboard I wanted and had yet to purchase.

I got home with it and realized, this memory was designed for intel's X99/100 platforms. After researching online it appears that this will not be compatible with the Z370 chipset, though most of the forums related to memory related questions seem to confiirm that if it is DDR4, it will work.

So now that I have convoluted my thread(sorry) I have basically have 2 questions.
-Can this memory be used on this Z370 board(was unable to locate model# on MSI's compatibility checker) even though it was specifically designed for another chipset?

-Since discovering that I made this "mistake" I purchased a new set of RAM from Fry's which was 16GB(3200MHz) If it turns out I can use the 8gb(2400MHz) I purchased previously, is there any issue with running this card in tandem with the 2 modules I purchased afterward?

I ask due to the difference in speeds as most of the other specifications are the same(Voltage req., slot configuration, even the pin counts are identical) or should I just try and sell this item to somebody? I cannot return this memory to the store as Fry's will not accept returns for items purchased on sale. If I can use it awesome, if not oh well(would just like to get some money back out of it)

Sorry about the long post guys, but any advice or suggestions(even lectures) would be much appreciated. I have listed links to the hardware in question below, let me know if there is anything else I can provide that would be helpful.

Thanks in advance! I selected the request solutions, but I am always open to discussion, I love to learn, I am just starting to dabble in computer's however.

Solution
When you use different RAM kits that were not tested to work together they either default to the lower speed kit (2400MHz) or even a lower speed (2100MHz-2300MHz) that will allow them to work in tandem.
