Signal strength meter for laptop

Is there a simple program I can install on my laptop that will display the current wifi signal strength? I looked around and the only thing I can find are extremely complex analysis utilities that compare networks and give detailed information on a slew of things I'm not interested in.

I'm just looking for something that shows the current signal strength and will change in real time, sort of like a speedometer, or digital readout. I want to walk my laptop around and find where the strong and weak points are in my house.

Walking downstairs and near the router, it increases to the right:
