Ryzen 3 2200G Ram Overclock Issue on B450M

I'm not totally new to overclocking but I feel like I've run into a wall and I'm missing something here.

I've just finished up a budget build with a Gigabyte B450m DS3H, Corsair Dominator Platinum 3000MhZ 2x4GB RAM and Ryzen 3 2200G CPU. PSU is a rm550x and running the stock wraith cooler. No Gpu installed yet.

The memory support list for the ds3h board was limited for 8GB kits, but there seemed to be plenty of support for the same corsair 3000mhz RAM in 4x4GB kits so I picked up a 2x4GB kit due to budget.

I can't get the xmp profile for the ram to run at any speed over 2133mhz (BSOD not long after boot). With custom timings I can get it to run at 2400mhz at 1.35v but it fails prime95 Large FFT's with no overclock on the CPU. I was really hoping to run it at the rated speed of 3000mhz

Do I need to wait for a BIOS update to improve RAM compatibility, just accept I'm never running over 2133mhz, or should I have bought a different board?

First thing is make sure you've updated to the latest BIOS as each update improves RAM compatibility. That's also one reason a motherboard QVL isn't generally useful: they can't possibly test all kits out their and BIOS updates change things making it obviously even more impossible to retest everything.

Once you're sure you have the latest, and if XMP still doesn't help: With XMP disabled try loading all timing parameters manually. Also, don't be afraid to boost DIMM voltage: try 1.4 or even 1.45. Once you've found something that works you can back down from there.

I've also found it helpful to walk up in clock speed: so if the default speed at boot is 2133 I'd load all parameters with voltage at 1.4 then boot. If it's good then go to 2666, then 2933, then 3000.

The board is only 2-3 months old from release afaik, so there is only Bios version F1 released at the minute, which is obviously what I'm running, which actually makes the QVL relevant - or so I thought.

When adjusting the RAM voltages, setting it to 1.33V in BIOS is giving me a reading of 1.356V when I reboot into BIOS. When setting the voltage manually, should i be worrying about the 'set' voltage, or the Voltage that is being read at the DIMM. If I push it to 1.45V I'm concerned the board will push more like 1.5V which doesn't seem safe.

I'll take another go at setting the timings manually working up from the stock speed once I know what voltage to aim for.
