Thinking about a Ryzen 2700x build.
Would I notice a speed difference between:
Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB 2 x 16GB DDR4-2666
and
Kingston - HyperX Predator 2 x 16GB DDR4-3000

OK, if I would then switch to :
G.Skill Flare X 16GB 2 x 8GB DDR4-3200
I would sacrifice 16GB RAM, but should be fine for most applications (if i remember 16GB RAM is sufficient for most applications)

Every benchmark/review I have seen comparing same equipment aside from slightly faster RAM averaged 3-5 frames difference in SOME titles.

The way people around here get worked up over it one would think that the computer becomes self aware and cooks meals afterward.

Pick the one that is a)on your mobo compat list, b)cheapest

wait what...
TitanXP for occasional video editing and gaming...
Dude, you must be rich or something.
To me, your 4790k is still close to top tier, no need to upgrade for your task, could run wow with better FPS compared to 2700X due to better single core performance if you overclock...
Do consider Ryzen if you need to do heavy video editing in the future.

I forgot:
Xplane 11 with Windows VR, hence the need for the Titan XP
4790K, is fine, but crashes occasionally.
Figure when I re-install Windows, might as well put in new CPU.
Besides this weekend is looking good for that, weather sux ;-)

could be too many startup items causing it, I will do a fresh install if that is the case. Just try it and see if it solves the issue. win 7 or win 8? You may try to disable most of those startups using msconfig but different OS has different way. If you really want to build one, wait for 9th gen Intel and check if they are better choices.

Yeah, I could do a clean install (Win10), but might as well do it with a new CPU.
No interest in getting Intel, their policy of new MB per new generation is something I don't want to support.
So it's either Ryzen 2nd gen or TR 2nd gen.
The latter would set me back about $1k more, and is really more power than I need.

in that case, something like should do well:

add ssd if you don't have yet.
16 gb is enough too, but 32 is recommended if you go 4k video editing.
