Cpu is not over clocking

The first step was to enable xmp than add new profile and set all cores to 42 or 4.2ghz because i want to stay safe as I am using cooler master Hyper 212 led turbo cpu cooler
All set and saves than system restarts when i go to bios my new profile is added but still showing speed of 3.7ghz but when i open profile setup it shows 42 for all cores.
I tried to check with different software too but they are showing 3.7ghz speed..

Okay a couple of things. First the 8700K has an all core turbo boost of 4.3GHz out of the box, so when and if required it will boost to that level anyway. If you have MCE enabled ;multi core enhancement' in BIOS, it can go to 4.7GHz all core. Power saving like Speedstep keeps the CPU from going all out max when not needed...Easy to check your max overclock is being reached by using Prime95 version 26.6 and run the blend test with Coretemp, Hardware Info or Realtemp open...

Remember the 8700K will only boost to those frequencies if there is sufficient load being placed in the first place.

Secondly go into the BIOS and apply a 44 multiplier and save settings, so that you will get a 4.4GHz overclock...again this will only show up when...

Finally be aware of temps...so long as you are under 80 Degrees C you are okay and with a 4.4GHz you should be even with that cooler....though better to test first as I use an AIO.
