Switches not showing up

Just purchased a netgear nighthawk ac100 router. Our previous router (this is a work environment) was involved in a power surge. Anywho. I have it up and running, internet is good, and devices plugged into the router are a go. Couldn’t get it to acknowledge any devices in my switches. So, I unplugged everything in each switch and put them back in one by one. Everything was showing up and going great, so I quit checking and just kept on plugging until I was done. Now I go back and it’s acting like nothing is attached again. So confused.

Solution
It depends on the switch to some extent. If you have a managed switch then its configuration can be a issue and nobody on the internet can guess what you configured.

If the switch is unmanged they are pretty simplistic they work or they do not. Pretty much if you do not get lights on the ports when you plug device in that act active the switch is broken. Although switch failures are not real common I have seen devices where say 8 out of the 24 ports do not work, this was a commercial switch with a lifetime warranty so the vendor replaced it.

If all the ports light up when you plug things in it could still be the switch but it much more likely there is something configured wrong on the router.
