Hello guys. This is my first time making a thread on tom's so i'd like to salute everybody here..
So, i ordered a Seagate Barracuda 2tb from the most trustworthy tech retailer in my country and today i picked it up from the local shop. The only problem is that they handed me the hdd in an antistatic bag and thats it. No box whatsoever. Is it normal?

Solution

No.
You may need to go into Disk Management and Initialize it. Then Format, and give it a drive letter.
Maybe.

No one can say what is "normal" for your local shop.
But it most assuredly came from the factory in a box of some sort. Possibly in a large box with 20 other drives.

No it's not it should have a box at least... I recommend return it and get it from somewhere else.... I also recommend using online websites like amazon etc.... They are way more trusted

Retailers usually get these in a box of 20+ drives. Then they send these drives to you packed in their antistatic bag. Rarely do you get hdd's in boxes nowadays.

Screws are specific to your case. Many cases do not need screws to mount an HDD.

Cable...if he did not hand you one, you'll need a SATA data cable. Buy several, they're cheap. And generally do NOT come in a retail HDD box.

HDD's don't come with anything normally (yours doesn't come with anything). They expect your to already have the cables, screws,...

If you build your pc yourself you'll notice that the motherboard comes with a couple sata cables and the case comes with the screws to mount everything. If you don't have this you'll just have to go buy these things.
