Hey, I'm looking for a beast of a PC for 1080p gaming. And only 1080p gaming...
I'd like to run every game at 1080p and over 60fps. Keep in mind I have a 144hz monitor.
I'm also going to be streaming & recording

Any suggestions to make it better performance for 1080p gaming?

  • CPU: Intel - Core i5-8600K
    CPU Cooler: Corsair - H100i v2
    Motherboard: MSI - Z370-A PRO
    RAM: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16GB (DDR4-3000)
    Storage: Kingston - A400 480GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
    Storage: Seagate - FireCuda 1TB
Graphics Card: EVGA - Gigabyte - GeForce GTX 1080 8GB WINDFORCE OC
Case: NZXT - H500 (White) ATX Mid Tower Case
    Power Supply: EVGA - SuperNOVA G3 650W

Solution
That is a very solid gaming build with the 8600K matching the 1080 perfectly...With the AIO you can overclock and the 8600K is a stellar overclocker! More importantly with the Z370 board you have, you can upgrade next time to the 9700K through to 9900K as the bios has been released for your motherboard..

Cant think of anything that really needs changing...

More than good enough for the frame rates you are after...enjoy.

PS...if you are going to be streaming and recording, then the 8700K will be better but still the 8600K will do a great job...You can go Ryzen 2600/2700x route but you lose on the frame rates then. I personally the think the balance you have is good...unless you have more money to spend...

Would I be able to overclock the i5 8600k to 5GHz?

That is more than achievable on the 8600K and if you have a good one then it might even do 5GHz at a low vcore, say 1.325 to 1.35v which would be great...but yes, you should be able to achieve 5GHz...

Hiya mate, upgraded a few things... here is the new list

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-8700K
    CPU Cooler: Corsair - H100i v2
Motherboard: ASUS TUF Z370 Plus Gaming
    RAM: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16GB (DDR4-3000)
Storage: SAMSUNG 860 EVO Series 500GB
    Storage: Seagate - FireCuda 1TB
Graphics Card: Gigabyte - GeForce GTX 1080 8GB WINDFORCE OC or Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1080 Ti Gaming OC
Still thinking if I should pay the extra 200 bucks to get the 1080ti
Case: Corsair Carbide Series Spec 6

Will this perform better under streaming/recording conditions?
I think this is a bit overkill for just a 1080p gaming setup don't you agree?

There's no such thing as overkill...but!!!! Okay, as you are looking at streaming then the 8700K will definitely be better.
And as far as the 1080 goes more than good enough for 1080P high frame rate. Thing is simple, if you have the money and want the very best both in terms of now and down the road, then the 1080ti/8700K will see you through for the next few years..Also the case could be better.

Me personally, if I had the money, I would have got the 1080ti in a heartbeat but it was simply too expensive so went with the 1080 GTX gaming X from MSI....Great card by the way..

As you can see below or on the link I went all the way.....
