Router seems to have an issue

Arris cm 820a cable modem to netgear ac1900 router. My internet connection sparatically goes out for all devices on my network both wired and wireless. So far the most reliable fix is to unplug the modems Ethernet cable from the router then plug it directly into my PC, this gets internet back up on that PC, I then undo/redo the Ethernet cable and I am back in business. Any ideas on what is going on? Realigning the on/off switches doesn't fix it. Just swapping the Ethernet cable. I have tried replacing the cable (twice). Don't know if it's a setting issue or my router just failing...hoping for settings.

Who has admin rights to your router?

Check the router's logs if available and enabled. There may be some log entries noting the loss of connectivity.

And where is the router located? Could be getting warm/hot if there if there is not enough local ventilation for the router.

Works again when you redo the Ethernet cable only because the router has cooled down...

Also look for firmware updates via Netgear's website. May be a bug in the router's firmware.

I loaded up to latest firmware which didn't fix the issue, unfortunately it stopped the ethernet cable swaparoo from fixing it also. I did a factory reset after that and it seems to be squared away now. Maybe the firmware needed a reboot that the factory reset provided? Anyway so far so good.
