So, I play one game...ARK.
In-game, I have developed a stutter/FPS loss from 60fps to 0 about every 15 seconds on the potato settings.
This just started last week after 2 years of playing the game with no issues. The only thing I have upgraded in the past few months were my GPU and also added more RAM.
My current rig:
Windows 10 64bit
AMD FX6300 with an aftermarket Insignia cooler, no OC.
Gigabyte GA 970A-DS3P.
Gigabyte GTX 760 GDDR5-2GB Windforce, fan adjusted to 70% speed through MSI Afterburner, no OC.
Kingston HyperX 4x4GB
ToughPower 750 Gold
WD Blue 1TB HDD, still have 500Gigs available and recently defragged.(It still stuttered even after defrag.)
I tried resetting the BIOS, that fixed it, for about 15 minutes, or did it?
I even ran the game through Razer Cortex game booster, which also gave me a 15 minute fix.
I ran SFC Scan, it came up no issues.
I have also noticed that even if I just log in to play, I can get about 15 minutes in before it starts stuttering.
Its almost like no matter what is tried, 15 minutes is as far as I can get before it starts stuttering.
All of my temps are normal through Afterburners hardware monitor. The temps DO NOT go above 55C on the CPU or GPU while in-game.
Windows drivers are all up to date
Graphics are up to date
Game files are all verified/validated
I also cleaned all dust from case and components, plus cleaned off old paste and reapplied new thermal paste on the CPU plus took out my GPU and placed it in another slot.
I have literally exhausted all testing, from cooling issues to updates.
Everything is updated, and plenty of cooling. Now one thing I should state is that someone mentioned it may be my chipset overheating, so I took the side panel off of my case and it stopped stuttering almost instantly. I was able to play for around 7 hours yesterday before it started stuttering again. Could my motherboard be croaking? I even have regular floor fan blowing on my hardware and it still stutters.
Im lost. Thanks in advance for any help and let me know if any more information is needed.
