msi z370 cpu light is on - not a new rig

Hi there, I'm a first-time PC builder and I built my PC back in Nov/Dec 2017. Everything worked with the first boot and all was good until about 6months in... Afterwards my screen would turn off and I would hear a horrid, loud (what seemed like the fans? not sure) noise from my tower, the pc was still running since I still heard audio from the video I was watching. I would force shut down, reboot it, and everything was fine. This didn't happen again until a month or so later..and then it became more frequent; however, whatever was triggering it was very inconsistent. Sometimes I would be idle - having things just boot up and as I was waiting I was on my phone, sometimes I would be watching twitch with maybe discord open, sometimes it would just be twitch and the horrid noise would happen. After I finally stop being lazy about it, I tried to put on new thermal paste, thinking maybe it was overheating or something. That fixed it for a little bit, but then around June/July the noise came back but then the CPU debug light was on upon the reboot. After checking online I found most issues of this was when people first booted their build, not after usage. So out of frustration I just tried cleaning the thermal paste and reseating the CPU...miraculously it worked....sort of. The next time it happened I decided to update drivers and BIOS, since I was still running on the original version, it fixed for a few weeks. But the problem still occurred, and as of now I've tried reseating my CPU about 4 times, and this last time it didn't work at all. I have checked the pins and condition of the CPU chip each time and from what I could tell it doesn't seem damaged. So I'm now trying to post about it to figure out what is the problem. As a first-time builder I am not really in a position to readily switch out parts to try, so if possible I'd like a solid answer.

Temps are cool, unfortunately I do not have a picture of it, but compared to a friends PC they were even cooler than his. (this comparison was done before the BIOS update)
Only intensive thing I've ever done with the PC was play AC Syndicate...but that was during the appox. 6months before this ever occurred...since then the most intensive gaming I've done is dead cells (windowed) while twitch is on in the background.
Also the last 2 times this has happened, it occurred (I guess) while my computer was entering sleep mode. So it would power down and then when I go back to power it back on, the CPU light would be on, only onboard LED lights were on.
Build

Thanks for any help at all.

Solution
Loosen the screws of the cooler just a bit.

Reset the BIOS by jumper (clearCMOS)

Maybe your CPU is faulty, but that´s really a 0.001% thing

Hi thanks for the quick reply, sorry it took a while to get back to you...

-tried resetting cmos, don't have a jumper cap but I read you could use foil so tried that. didn't work
-to be honest I don't know how you can plug in the cpu fan incorrectly when it indicates which way to plug it in...so I'm pretty sure I plugged it in correctly
-yes I did install the spacers between the motherboard and case.
-I can't tell if there is any discoloration or bent pins...to me it seems alright? but here are some pictures, since maybe I'm just not seeing it
pictures <- hopefully these are clear enough

well...somehow I guess that worked lol
still not sure if I've been resetting the BIOS with foil....
thank you so much for the help!

if this does happen again, what do you think the problem might be? I had posted in the msi forum and someone replied saying maybe it's the PSU...

hmm could it have been a windows update somehow? I'm not too intune with how these things work so, sorry if this is a stupid question. I'm just trying to figure out why this had been happening :T

I figured, but that's the only thing that's been updated since the computer was built. pretty sure I didn't update my gpu until after the first incident...(my memory sucks so maybe I did update it once prior...but I'm assuming that wouldn't cause the issue)
No, I did not try to overclock (pretty sure the cpu I got can't be overclocked anyways)...only tuning tools I have is the msi one that came with the install :T
I just find it strange since it basically worked fine with nothing wrong for about 6months. . .
