Silent Mechanical Keyboard on a budget

Hello,

I'm in the market for a mechanical keyboard but I do not have experience with the different types of switches and how they sound/feel. Must haves: illuminated for night time use; decently silent because I have a 4 months old. Should not exceed the equivalent of 100-120 euros in my currency (Romanian RON). From the little reading I've done on the subject, Cherry MX Brown seem to be the best for both worlds (gaming and typing) with a decent touch volume. I received a recommendation for Hyper X Alloy FPS (https://www.emag.ro/tastatura-mecanica-gaming-hyperx-alloy-fps-cherry-mx-brown-hx-kb1br1-na-a2/pd/D8NRQ7BBM/) but would like to see more options. Looking forward to any feedback. Cheers.

I use browns and they're pretty quiet. Adding o-rings to any keyboard will also help with this. Keep in mind no mechanical is going to be as quiet as quiet membrane, so if you truly need silent you may want to look at gaming membrane keyboards. Steel Series has a few with good reviews.

Also if you want to get at least some experience with how mechanical key feel, you can buy a sampler packs of keys from some vendors. I know WASD has a sampler kit for $15 USD

Thank you. Here's my current selection:

1. Logitech G810 Orion Spectrum RGB (600 RON)
2. Fnatic Rush G1 Cherry MX Red; provided I can find the version whih has silent and not standard red (430 RON)
3. HyperX Alloy FPS, Cherry MX Brown (400 RON)

I could probably stretch the budget for the Logitech. Other silent options seem outside my reach.

Any experience with these?

Thanks!

I have settled for Logitech G810. I am pretty happy with my choice. By comparison with my previous membrane keyboard, it is just a tiny bit louder. Was also looking at Fnatic quiet reds but couldn't find one in Romania and I didn't want it shipped from outside the country.

Once you get used to it I think you'll like it. I have a friend with that keyboard and he loves it.
