Corsair 850w RMX or 750w RMX..2017 and UP. There was a gap like from 14-17 where Corsair REALLY had serious quality control issues with their power supplies, but now the new RMX series is supposed to be back on track and stable as hell, there is a reason it is GOLD rated AND gets a 10 year warranty updated from the previous older ones 7 year warranty. *EDIT* All the parts were upgraded in the RMx PSU in 2018 editions and onward, those are the ones with the 10 year warranty.

1.) Upgrade your power supply. The old CX series wasn't very reliable and will only get more unreliable with age.

2.) A 1080 Ti is a bit overkill for 1080p; so I would expect a 2080 Ti to be overkill. Only consider it if you have money to spend.

3.) How about an RTX 2080 and an excellent power supply?

PSU suggestions:

Corsair TXm, RMx
EVGA G2, G3
SeaSonic FOCUS, FOCUS Plus, PRIME

I would wait for the reviews. None of us can give you accurate answers. Only guess making. Also, 1440p is in middle, so that makes it even harder to guess. What's your FPS target anyway?

he already mention that he has a 1440 p aka as 2k with a gtx 1070 if i was him he should of went with a gtx 1080 ti b/c as of right now people are a little poed b/c of their performance , like the 10 series you buy 1 and think it's going to make the game look better but in reality it's so small u won't notice a difference

Hello Ismail,

I am actually in the same situation that you are in besides the PSU aspect.

I am currently running the EVGA 1070 SC model and I pre-ordered the MSI RTX 2080 Gaming Trio X

My reasoning is that it doesn't make sense IMO to go from 1070 to 1080 TI when I can get a slightly faster card in a newer Architecture . Yes cost is more I would say $100 - $200 depending on model but it is a 10% increase from a 1080 TI with more OC potential. Going from a 1070 to 2080 is a huge (trump voice) leap.

REMEMBER THE DRIVERS ARE IN THE VERY EARLY STAGE AND WILL NEED TIME TO MATURE RESULTING IN A FASTER GPU WHICH SOME PEOPLE DON'T REALIZE.

Wow, somehow I saw 144Hz 1080p. The reason no one is seeing a difference now with RTX is because NO games support the new technologies that it is capable of; so yes, for example playing the same game at 165fps is not going to be much different than playing a game at 144fps.

It probably best to wait. See where prices really go, and see if new games or old games get patches to make use of the DLSS and/or ray tracing. If you hesitated to get a the GTX1080ti for all this time, what is another year on the old reliable GTX1070 going to hurt?

Unless it really is that itch you just got to scratch and want a new video card. But the power consumption and heat output of the RTX2080ti is just really disappointing.
