Save yourself the $100 on the Windows 10 Pro by buying it from Ebay for under $10....You will get a fully legit version OEM which will cause you no issues whatsoever, I am on my 3rd on fro me and friends and have never had an issue.

Over 2800 sold buy this seller....

I am not sure I would trust it in the long term. If it does turn out NOT to be legit, Microsoft can cut you off.

HOWEVER, regardless of that, if you want to play it super-safe, you can skip the Windows 10 purchase entirely (for now), and run without a key. It will have that annoying text in the lower right telling you it's an unregistered windows install, and it won't let you do any personalization stuff, and that's about it.

Then you can decide on where/how to get a Windows license afterward.

Personally, I wouldn't take the gamble on a cheap license from eBay or any of the other sites that offer too-good-to-be-true prices on the licenses.

You can also go with an RX580 8GB video card instead. There are a few that are a bit less expensive than the GTX 1060 you've got listed, and the RX 580 8GB generally keeps up with, or slightly outperforms, the GTX 1060 6GB.

If you look at the ebay post for the windows 10 Pro Licence it is totally legitimate and is for 1 use only. They are licenced with Microsoft and these are OEM keys for new builds and they have a Microsoft Partner Licence to distribute.

Just to re-iterate, my Key from them has been going for 2 years with absolutely no issues and for $10!!!! you are only going to lose $10 at worst..And both TechYes City and Pauls Hardware have bought and covered this on there You tube sites..being cheap and saving money does not make it wrong...

If you really feel that there is something wrong, then buy it from Kinguin.com for $23...still saving money.

it was more a Joke, just the watermark gets on peoples nerves,

I agree though, trying it that way first would be great then buy a key off ebay, kinguin or G2A is something I have done previously.

You were OK, until the last 1/2 of that comment.
Buy a valid license key. Generally around $90. Seen far too many scams from kinguin, etc reported here.

If that were a physical object, like RAM, for instance, at that level of discount...you'd run away laughing. Knowing it was a scam.
Software is no different.

Absolutely no. Doesn't matter what the seller ratings are, these keys were obtained through illegitimate means and can and will be deactivated at some point. If you want to save money on Windows, as was suggested, go the unactivated route then buy a key when you are able to do so. But really, this is not the place to save money on a build.

Your sample size of 3?

Vs a very quick search on this very forum.

As have Science Studio, and many others. Being covered by Youtubers though, doesn't make it right though.

Plenty of cases where either the license doesn't activate to begin with, or is blacklisted/deactivated in time.

Reasons vary from volume licenses repeatedly sold (breaching an EULA) through to keys legit purchased, but with stolen credit cards.

If you don't have the money for a license, run unactivated until you do.

Well, you know, now I have this image in my head of the watermark glaring at me in stern disapproval... and judging me for eating junkfood, not vacuuming as often as I should, and definitely implying that I need a haircut.

Nor does it make it wrong as purchasing the licences from a legitimate source as discussed by the said You Tubers...there are pro's and con's but at $10 you just have to ask yourself a simple question - how risk averse you are...if you do not like any risk...don't buy, if you don't mind a $10 risk, then buy....nobody is wrong, its just a option to take or not...

If there's even a question as to any risk at all or being risk averse, then how can you be absolutely, 100% certain, that these licenses are not only valid, but are legal to be resold?

You cannot defer to YouTubers as being legal authorities. Further, reviews from ebay sales are all well and good if they initially activate. It's not like they can come back 6 months later and update their feedback if the license gets flagged.

You provided your thoughts, and others have posted rebuttals. I think the fact that the same (general) message has been posted by numerous people would highlight to the OP that it's a bad idea.

It doesn't inherently make it "wrong" by default, no. BUT, when you're talking about a product (still in circulation) being sold for approx 10% of it's MSRP........ clearly something is amiss. 'Legitimate source'? eBay, Kinguin etc are 'marketplaces' and are not legit, authorized retailers/resellers.

A legit, authorized source would be NewEgg and equivalents.

Regardless, back to the question posed.

There are a few different ways you could save money overall - although you're already cutting cost in the SSD etc.

For example, sticking with the Intel route:

*Intel isn't going to be benefit too much from the faster memory,
*Case ships with 1x 120mm fan, adding a second is all you'd need.
*Drop the speakers, for a monitor with built-in. Not the same, but should be sufficient vs $25 speakers.
*Alternate KB/M options
*Better quality SSD
*Slightly cheaper OS

Gets you just under $1k after rebates.

IF you're interested in the AMD route, there are some solid deals to be had on 1st Gen Ryzen.

6c/12t (vs 4/4 on the i3) for very similar money overall - and paired with faster memory, which Ryzen will benefit much more from.

@King_V - Boy you really are having a hard time understanding the simplicity of 'choice' as that is all this is about. This is not about You Tuber's as legal authorities...never even mentioned that other than saying, this is what they have said...And at no point did I say 100%!!! again, I even made it clear at worst you lose $10...at the very least try and be accurate.

You have given your thoughts and advice, I have given mine..This is not War & Peace but a simple question as to saving money! is there anything more to discuss?
