HDD everything lost

I left my pc for 20 mins and when i came back everything from my HDD was lost. It shows 929/931 GB free. Literally everything. Dozens of games, i cant even uninstall them from steam since they are gone. I used the PC just fine before this happened, all my files on the D drive folders pictures everything gone. Pretty sure i lost everything, all i want to know what happened, why it happened and how can i make sure it doesnt happen again.

stefanbojic2000, get in touch with the HDD manufactures support line. As for the future you need a solid back up plan.

Basically you want:

3 copies of any data you don't want to lose
2 different mediums it's stored on (so 2 different drives in your computer, for example)
1 copy kept offsite, to prevent against disaster.

Wow, that really sucks. I'd try to use Recuva or something to get whatever files you can back, then reinstall Windows and reinstall your games (Attempting to play the recovered games probably wouldn't work so well).
