what program opens a WIM file

i can always trust this forum . I used my external hard drive to back up my wife's HP laptop.
After the 118 gb were backed up i tried to open the folder and it was a WIM file.
how do i open this? is there a program that you trust?
thanks in advance.

WIM = Windows Imaging Format.
What a backup created with the builtin Windows thing creates.

The only thing to use it with is the Windows backup. It's not something you "open".

Which OS version are you using?
There are much, much better tools for doing a backup.
