Hello everyone! I currently just got an AOC G2460PF 24” 144hz monitor with freesync. My current build is here: (https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Becominq/saved/R4jqkL). I game on 1080p and play esport titles, mostly League of Legends and Rainbow Six Siege. My current budget gtx 1050ti gpu has no problem constantly getting over 144fps in league but stays around 60-100 in RB6. I play mostly low-medium settings, and was looking for a new AMD GPU that could handle 144fps and take advantage of the freesync technology!

I was currently looking at the RX580 8GB. Will this give me what I am looking for? I am not nearly as familiar with the AMD GPU line as I am with nvidia.

Last side note, I realize that I have a budget CPU and GPU now, but I have plenty of cooling with fans and my liquid cooler. So with the upgrade to a mid-high range GPU to give me the performance I am looking for, I will be upgrading my CPU to most likely a Ryzen 5 2600

Thanks for all suggestions!

Some games are cpu limited.

Do a quick test:
Run YOUR games, but lower your resolution and eye candy.
If your FPS increases, it indicates that your cpu is strong enough to drive a better graphics configuration.
If your FPS stays the same, you are likely more cpu limited.

RX580 is the strongest amd graphics card your 550w psu can support.
If you will be upgrading your cpu, I think I would go stronger. 550w will support up to a GTX1080.

Freesync is a method of matching the frame generation capability of the gpu with the display rate capability of the monitor.

It turns out that your nvidia 10xx card has a similar capability not only with g.sync(an expensive monitor upgrade_ but it also implements syncing with buffering in various ways such as adaptive v.sync or fast sync.
Probably in the end it does not make a difference.

If, in the above test, you find that you are cpu limited, consider carefully your cpu upgrade options.
Going from 1300x to 2600 gets you 12 threads vs 4 which is nice.
But, few games can make effective use of more than 4 threads.
Of more import is likely to be the single thread performance.
1300X has a single thread passmark rating of 1884. 2600 rating is 2014
