RTX 2080 vs GTX 1080

Solution
The new tech can be good and can also just fade away.
We just have to wait and see, how things are going to work with the new tech in the next few months or years.
I just hope the new graphic cards esp. the 2080 were not that expensive.
so, yes...I am among those pundits...

"However, what these price-panicked pundits don't understand is that there's value in being an early adopter. And there's a cost to either delaying your purchase or getting an older-generation product so you can save money. While we don't have final benchmark results, the new features and enhanced performance of the Turing cards make them worth buying now, even at sky-high prices."

The reason there a close to none is that ray tracing and RTX cannot be used with out the new DirectX Ray Tracing API which will be not release before the Windows 10 Creators Fall Update in the beginning or mid October. As soon this is available we will see the first Ray Tracing add ons to games like Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Also, the new Tensor Core Deep Learning Anti Alaising which sounds pretty awesome and will give any game using it down the road a huge performance boost. A lot of titles already announced that they going to add it.

correct, today the new technology can't be used, but 2 months from know that might look different. And I am not buying a card for only today, also for tomorrow and the following at leat 830 days. I agree, that ray tracing might be not working so well, since I am not going back to 1080p to have ray tracing, but the DLAA will be most likely really cool real quick.
