Microsoft recently released a microcode update and will it affect my performance on Intel CPU?

According to Intel and Microsoft, Intel Haswell processors and older CPUs will be impacted the most with the firmware updates designed to protect against these security flaws
According to Microsoft machines running Skylake, Kaby Lake, or newer processors have been benchmarked to show “single-digit slowdowns” and they don't expect “most users to notice a change because these percentages are reflected in milliseconds.”

Some has question about this part "no noticeable" impact.....because each security patch we apply to protect against different spectre...will end up losing more performance every single patch applied making it more noticeable and more?

It feel like my Intel i5 7600 will become near a i5 6600 (a year back performance)
