Can I lay a GPU on syrofoam?

I disassembled my old pc to sell. I put the CPU and the GPU on a (relatively hard, if that matters) styrofoam, thinking it will save the pins from bending. Today I looked up how to properly package them for shipping. I found that people say for styrofoam it isn't the best to be near the parts. This being said, how likely is it that my processor and GPU are now unusable?

Things are likely ok, but you did something pretty unwise there.

Static electricity kills electronics, and have you ever had styrofoam beads stick to you and to others? That's a LOT of static charge.

I would use the processor and GPU. If they have failed, you know what did it. If they fail years earlier than they should have, you know what did it.

But it's quite possible that you did no damage and everything is fine.
