Hey so I currently have an Antec VP650P(v2) PSU at 650w with which I'm powering my current GTX 970 which has a 8-pin and a 6-pin connector. I'm planning to buy a GTX 1080Ti soon and it says it needs 2 x 8-pin connectors.
A little bit of research revealed that the MSI Gaming X version I'm planning to buy includes a 6 pin-to-8 pin adapter in the box.
So I'm wondering can I just plug the one 8 pin connector I have and use the adapter on the 6 pin? Will that be sufficient or is the adapter some kind of jerry-rigging solution?
It's said the recommended PSU wattage for 1080Ti is 600w and mine is 650w so I didn't plan on having to buy a new PSU but the connector thing is bothering me.
Any advice would be much appreciated!
