Desktop PC shuts off immediately at random moments

Hello there,

So I've been having this problem fairly recently, since about a week now, where my desktop computer will suddenly shut off without warning. It doesn't give me the shutting down screen, and simply cuts to black when it goes off.

What I find puzzling is how it'll shut off at random times - either while starting up, or when it's being used several hours after it has been booted. The load it handled every-time it shut off was all different too. Sometimes it would go off while playing Dark Souls Remastered, other times when no major applications were open. There are a number of things I've tried:

  • > Checking the cabinet components for dust - I cleaned all fans, and filters and the one below the PSU had some, but the problem persisted even after that.

    > Connecting the PC without peripherals, and just the power supply. No go, it shut down minutes into booting up. The supply comes through a UPS, so I tried connecting it directly to a socket board, and it still did not solve my problem.

    > Reseating components, and checking if the PSU wires properly connect to all of them. It all seems good, and I've checked this multiple times now. Keep in mind I'm no professional though, and maybe there's something I might be overlooking here.

    > Testing my PSU - I did it using a multimeter according to this guide from lifewire - https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-manually-test-a-power-supply-with-a-multimeter-2626158
The voltage readings were all within tolerance limits, so I'm genuinely perplexed about what the problem could be beyond this.

I can only suspect the motherboard at this point, but it's only a year old, like the rest of my PC's components. I'll post my PC specs at the end of this post.

I'd greatly appreciate it if anyone could help me out here. Troubleshooting PC hardware is always something I've dreaded, just cuz of how scary it all is.

Many thanks for reading!

Solution
Perform normal troubleshooting steps.
Check the RAM by only having one stick in at a time, repeat with all sticks. Try a fresh install of Windows on an old Disk Drive to make sure its not your boot drive. Also check temps (Usually you can monitor temps in BIOS. High Idle CPU temps (around 50°C can indicate overheating)

MERGED QUESTION
Question from perplexeduser : "PC with new PSU unit won't boot"

Follow up from this thread:
http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-3790292/desktop-shuts-immediately-random-moments.html

I replaced the psu and ups with the following:
Corsair CX650M power supply unit
APC BX1100VA UPS

After checking the seating of all components, I find that the PC starts for a few seconds and shuts down. Sometimes, it'll take me to the BIOS screen, but after a few minutes again, it'll shut down.

Please help! :'/

Control panel> systems and security> security and maintenance > reliability monitor.
There you should see what causing the PC to shut down randomly , there will be error code , just search it in Google and an answer will pop.

Also check for the heat might be a cause , gpu-z cpu-z

Run RAM test to check if there's a problem in the RAM

Good luck!
