Too many heatsinks

I'm working on a new build. The m2 ssd comes with a heatsink and the motherboard comes with a heatsink. Does it matter which one I use? The motherboard heatsink is much bigger. I'm assuming not to use both.

There is a second m2 slot which doesn't have a heatsink. Is one slot faster than the other?

Solution
M.2 drives can warm up with huge amounts of sustained writes.....but, they still dissipate about 10 watts max...

A little air blowing across it seems to go farther than a heatsink does, based on tests I've seen, where the heatsink even caused the tested M.2 drive to thermally throttle a bit sooner...
