Anyone following ram pricing expect drops in near future? Can ram be split later?

Jusy purchased ryzen 2600 and motherboard. Debating on buying only 8gb ddr4 for 50$ or less and then buying 32gb dual channel once prices drop vs buying 16gb for around 130$ now.

Only really need 8 for what I do now, but once prices drop I would use sandisk with 32gb

Let's say you had 16gb in dual channel, can you then add a single 8gb stick and make this stick work independantly of the others to use it just as a ramdrive? I believe this was not possible a while back, but seems like something that might be added at some point.

Thanks, do you know about the second part? I had modified to the post after you replied instead of making a separate one.

The question about being able to add more ram later and split it so the new ram only functions as a ram drive. Like 8gbx2 in dual channel for the system and then the system would see a single 8 or 16gb that only functions as a ram drive and will never be used towards typically system memory and wont slow down the dual channel

No, you can't split RAM like that.
The system sees one large pool.
