Recording Software weird lag

So basically, I have used Camtasia studio to record videos. It seemed to lag while I was playing the game while the game FPS told different, so I tried using OBS. I have the same problem. When I have OBS open, the game seems to be a bit choppy while the in game FPS counter says different. Is there any way I can fix this?

Well.. here is the Thing. You have a way to slow Processor. You should actually:
A) Change the CPU to a newer one (i7 6700K, i7 770K, i7 8700K or Even i9)
B) Lower the Quality of the Recording settings in OBS and probably the In-game quality as well.
C) V-sync the games and the Recording settings to 30 Fps and see if it works fluid...

Recording using cpu encoding such as x264 can be very demanding depending on your system and settings used. Chances are you are pushing your pc too far resulting in bad performance. As Ramlethal asked please provide your full system specs to better understand where the issue lies.
