fixed it. im not sure what did the trick but things I remember doing was.. trying to stop windows from loading its own drivers. i did chat with creative support but didnt do anything new with them.. im just glad I have my music back. this is a great sound card and im very happy its still working :)
what? why use that sound card, your mobo has great hd sound built in. take out the sound blaster and hook to the line out on the back

thank you. i will try disabling the onboard audio but on my last motherboard(also asus) i didnt have to. last time I change the motherboard i remember I had the same kind of sound but have i installed the drivers it sounded fantastic at very loud volumes. onces its fixed i will do a compare. I guess I can also check the specs but looking at this card i dont see how the board can have more. specs should tell me. thanks again.
