Controller recommendations (PC)

Hey everyone!
After years of faithful service my xbox 360 controller has finally started to fail on me-right thumbstick click works around 50% of the time, the actual sticks will sometimes "stick" so it is time I put it to bed and got a replacement.

My question is does anyone have any recommendations for the potential replacement? I could always go again for another 360 controller but is there anything thats maybe even better? Although I haven't used one, I have had people say that the Xbox One controller is an improvement especially when it comes to the D-pad.

Also what do you think of the 3rd party products such as PDP etc? Primarily I think I'd prefer a wired option (don't have to worry about batteries or bluetooth modules). Price is not that important but at the same time I do not want anything ridiculously expensive either.

Thanks in advance for any possible suggestions.

The XboxOne controller is a very solid offering.
The 360 is still totally relevant too though - and can usually be found for less money, so it's still quite commonly used.

Third party options vary in quality dramatically. Not all are overly comfortable to hold either.

Budget offerings, like Logitech's F310 are very, very good for what they are and the pricepoint they come in at.

The "best" offering, IMO is an XBOne controller, but there are lots of alternatives that come pretty darn close for less money

I've never tried one, but have heard good things about the AmazonBasics licensed XBOne controller...

For about half the price of a MS produced unit, I'd seriously consider one of those if I had to pick up another.

Except the OP is looking for wired

And the XBox One controller uses a standard micro-USB....... and the Amazon version I linked is hard-wired.

FWIW, the XBox One Wireless adapter (ie the non-bluetooth) is substantially more than $5.
