Newer Graphics Cards Making PC Crash

My pc keeps crashing. About a year ago, I decided to build a PC for gaming with the help of a relative. It has 16 gigs of ram, an Intel i5-7400 processor, a Gigabyte BD50M-0S3H motherboard an EVGA 600 watt bronze power supply, a 2TB 7200 RPM hard drive, and two cooler master fans. Initially, we had a 1050 4gb graphics card in the computer. I tried to play games such as Overwatch, tf2, and Fortnite, but whenever I started playing my computer would crash. Sometimes, there would be moments where I would play Fortnite for a few hours without any problems, but in the end, it would always crash. I did have a great experience with Batman: Arkham City, with me being able to easily play for hours straight. After looking over my computer and putting in various different parts, my relative concluded that it was the graphics card, so he put an old spare one he had in. I'm not sure what model the graphics card was, but it looked reeeaaally old. Surprisingly, it ran all of the games I had, but they were at terrible framerates and resolution. After that, we bought a new one, an EVGA 1060 6 GB superclocked card, but it still crashes maybe a minute after I open up overwatch and when I click on the epic games icon for Fortnite, it doesn't even pop up on the screen. It's also crashing when I try to install driver updates for the GPU, when I'm downloading thins, and sometimes when I'm streaming videos off of Hulu and Netflix. I'm still relatively new to the PC building world, so if anyone has answers please explain them. I am using Windows 10 64-bit. I'm thinking it has something to do with the compatibility of the newer graphics cards, but I really do not know. Thanks!

Estimable
I think it could be just a driver problem:
-Run DDU and clear all previous Video Drivers installed
-Restart your PC and Downlaod Geforce Experience
-Let Geforce Experience update your Drivers
-There you go, enjoy.
hope it helped you,
Cheers!

^^^ This.
But if that also didn't work maybe your motherboard is causing this problem.

I tried this, but my computer crashed while I was installing the drivers then after installing them, it crashed again when I loaded into a game of Overwatch.

How can I check if it is a motherboard problem?

If you have 2 or more PCIE slots, you can place the GPU in the second PCIE slot.
