Hi i need help building my new computer. I have the GTX 1050ti SC and i am trying to choose a good cpu to pair it with. I am between i5 8400 and r5 2600.

I need your advice building my new computer. I will use it for gaming and desktop usage. I want a cpu that will be able to do browsing while gaming. Which one of the CPUs will be able to give the maximum performance to the GPU?

Games i play: Battlefield 1, Hunt Showdown, Fortnite, Pubg.

Here is my amazon wish list with the i5: https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/TX7DAI4DGHDO?&sort=default

I would go 8400 route as if it is a pure gaming build it will be a bit better. Your choice of motherboard is good too as the Z370 have already received BIOS updates so that in the future you can upgrade to the 9th Gen Intel. Overall the parts on your wish list are more than fine..

I have seen a few benchmarks on Youtube and it seems i5 8400 is slightly stronger on the benchmarked games while the CPU usage is almost twice the ryzen

While, in this case the benchmarks are not a bad representation of how these 2 will perform, I would not consider a youtube benchmark a reliable source and I would recommend you to stay away from them. This channel in particular is notorious for making questionable "benchmarks".
