I really don't know much about computers but I'm buying a new Alienware Aurora and I'm looking for a cheap monitor(as my intended uses are VR based), is there anything I should look out for so that the monitor works with the computer?

look at the video card used on your gaming pc. depending on the video size you want to run there are video ports/cables to use. most video cards now still have one dvi port that good for 19xx by xxxx gaming. the next digital video port is hdmi. hdmi 1.4/2.0 maxes out at 60 frames at 4k. if you want higher frame rates you need to use the newer display ports on the newer gpu. the other thing to look out for is the pannel used on the monitor. is it a tn or ips unit. if your close to a micro center or a store that have a few units set up see what panel you like. with the panel google the model and check if they have issue with backligt bleed.

The monitor is basically plug and play. Meaning you plug it in and it is ready to go.

Unless you are looking at a 144 Hz monitor, they can use HDMI, dual link DVD-D, OR DisplayPort monitor cables. The 144 Hz (and above) require dual link DVD-D, OR DisplayPort monitor cables in general.

Other than that the only thing to be aware of is that higher resolution (2K, 4K, and 144 Hz monitors) generally require a medium level or above graphics card for best performance.
