ROG Rampage VI Extreme only recognizing one stick of RAM

Hi all. I've just built and fired up my new build and I'm having a bit of trouble. My X299 motherboard is only recognizing one of my two 16GB sticks of RAM. Originally when I picked it up I was weary since in the amazon title of the item it says 'for Z270 platform' but after speaking to someone who seemed knowledgeable at Fry's Electronics he had mentioned that DDR4 is DDR4 regardless of anything, so if my motherboard took DDR4 it should work. I'm worried that this may be a motherboard issue, since i switched the places of each stick of RAM and the other one worked, just not in unison.. I'm hoping the RAM is just incompatible, because it's a lot easier to just change RAM than to have to disconnect the motherboard entirely to replace it! I'm going to continue troubleshooting some things I have read in similar threads for the mean time..

This is the RAM I purchased..

G.SKILL 32GB (2 x 16GB) TridentZ RGB Series DDR4 PC4-28800 3600MHz for Intel Z270 Platform Desktop Memory Model F4-3600C17D-32GTZR

Thank you!

The A1+C1 is dualchannel, you said you tested this, which is the recommended way of doing it and dualchannel (these are the first grey slots on both sides of the cpu btw). What slots did you use to test single channel?

Might be pin bent in the cpu socket if only one side of the board works. Can also be that the cpu cooler isn't placed straight/level at the cpu so one side puts more pressure on it. You can check the socket and see if pins are straight, after that you will need to put the cooler back anyway so make sure it's snug on all corners.

Tried the first two grey slots counted from the cpu out first? So the one on the left and the one one the right for two dimms.
Each stick worked on it's own?

After all this testing might you want to do a clear cmos to start over with default values.

I followed my Mobo instructions, on the left side of my CPU it goes from left to right DIMM_B1, DIMM_B2, DIMM_A1, DIMM_A2. On the right side of my CPU from left to right it goes DIMM_C2, DIMM_C1, DIMM_D2, DIMM_B1.

I put one stick in DIMM_A1 and one stick in DIMM_C1 as instructed by the motherboard manual. So are you saying i should put them in the first grey slot on both sides of the CPU?

those where the ones i meant. Read it again and you say both sticks work on their own, just not with each other? Can you set XMP with just one stick in? Did you try this? XMP i meant ...

If this doesn't work you do i suggest to rma the set.

Sorry I am confused by what you first said.. I put both sticks on one channel and they both work, the only issue I get is when I try to set up for dual channel. I will try what you said, when I originally tried to set the XMP my computer wouldn't boot and keep messing around with it. So if I rma, it would be the motherboard correct? since both RAM sticks function.
