adding xp to a win 10 computer

Hello, I am running win 10 professional on my computer. I just added a second HDD. I would like to also have XP as an option to run an older version of Chief Architect. Is there a way for me to add xp without having to uninstall win 10 first. Trying to keep it simple. May be easier to buy and older computer with xp just for this one application.

Virtualbox is certainly an option (a good one, might I add), but If you really want a dual boot, If you tell us your hardware,we might be able to find xp drivers for it, depending on it's age.



Xp activation still works.

Hello;

I am currently running win 10 pro on my computer. Recently I added a second HD. I have an old graphics program (Chief Architect 10) which will only run on XP. This software is more than good enough for my needs, even though it is old. Can I install XP on the second HD (win10 is on the first) without jumping through hoops. I have a copy and COA. This would be the only piece of software that would use XP. Trying to avoid buying another computer just for this one program.

My computer is older, cpu i5 3570K at 3.40 Ghz. currently 32 GB ram, 2 HDs, ST4000DM004-2CV104, and WDC WD10EZEX- 60ZF5AO. Hope this helps. I'll look at VirtualMachine and Virtual box.
Sorry about delay in getting back, have had some health issues. Where I plan to only run Chief Architect 10, which one would anyone recommend, Virtual Box or Virtual Machine. I apologize for my ignorance on this subject.

Another question- should I create a folder on my 2nd HD and install VM workstation15 there, and also install Chief Architect and any work related to it, in that same folder. May sound simple but I have no idea about this

You do not install Chief Architect (or any other user application like Work, Office, or a game) in a VM, you install it into an OS running inside the said VM. The application itself has no idea it's running inside a VM and not on a physical computer.

With your specs, you should not have problems installing Virtual Box (or VMware Player), installing and activating Windows XP (or any other Windows version), and installing your applications of chouce.

When i tried to install XP Pro into VM Player i got this message
This host supports Intel VT-x, but Intel VT-x is disabled.

Intel VT-x might be disabled if it has been disabled in the BIOS/firmware settings or the host has not been power-cycled since changing this setting.

(1) Verify that the BIOS/firmware settings enable Intel VT-x and disable 'trusted execution.'

(2) Power-cycle the host if either of these BIOS/firmware settings have been changed.

(3) Power-cycle the host if you have not done so since installing VMware Player.

(4) Update the host's BIOS/firmware to the latest version.

This host does not support "Intel EPT" hardware assisted MMU virtualization.

Module 'CPUIDEarly' power on failed.

Failed to start the virtual machine.
