Hello everybody! I finally saved up some money to upgrade a very old PC I bought back in 2012. Right now, I have an i3 3220 3.3ghz with a GT 610 (Can barely play Left 4 Dead 2 on Medium) motherboard: H61m-hvs. My budget is $500. I'm looking for a set up to be able to play AT LEAST Battlefield 4 on Ultra. Thinking about getting an i5 3570k since it's compatible with my motherboard, and a GTX 1050ti, and going to buy a 450w PSU. Would this be OK? What other alternatives are there considering my budget?

Also another quick question. Would the GTX 1050ti fit into my case? My case is exactly the following: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227478

Thank you so much in advance.

The intel i5 3570k will work in your system, since both CPUs are LGA1155. They are going for a very good price on Ebay ($50-100), but make sure to buy from a reputable seller. A GTX 1050ti will fit in your case just fine, but you could opt in for a GTX 1060 6GB. Most of them are going for $250-290 on Amazon, so you'll still have plenty of money left over if you can find one at the right price.

For a PSU a 500w or 600w might be better, if you plan to get the GTX 1060 and want to upgrade in the future. EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G2 is a 650w PSU and goes for $84 on Newegg. The EVGA SuperNOVA 550 G2 is a 550w psu and goes for $60, so its your choice on what PSU you want. I personally recommend the 650w psu, as you have more head room for...

Thanks for the answer! Another quick question. If I could only get one item, let's say today, and in the next month I can get the other, would it be better to get the GPU first? I know it will bottleneck modern games, but I've seen people play Battlefield 3, 4 on medium at 45-50 fps. Or do I buy the CPU first?

GPU first. Your CPU is still pretty good for modern games, but the GPU is not. I would also advise that you should upgrade your PSU to the ones that I mentioned, when getting the GPU. Hope it works out well!

THANKS A LOT FOR THE ANSWERS!!! Greatly appreciated.

I'd recommend going with a 1060 if possible, even the 3gb version. This means a power supply upgrade too of course. You want to game at ultra so I think in the long run the much better performance will turn out to be well worth it.

For the CPU you just need an i5, if an i7 is out of the question. You don't need a 'K' processor. A 3550 or 3570 would do it. In short, don't spend more to get the unlocked CPU, spend more to get the 1060 if possible.

Thanks man! I'm just about buying the GTX 1050ti for $169 and it comes bundled with a EVGA B1 500w PSU for free. How will it perform with an upgraded CPU? With Battlefield 1 for example? Or the upcoming Battlefield V(agina) lol? Is it 100 times better to just get the 1060?

The GTX 1050ti will preform just fine with the upgraded CPU. The EVGA B1 does have lower quality components compared to the one's I mentioned, but it's still a good PSU. Many people on a budget have said that the PSU works quite well for them.

Many reviewers have even tested and said the B1 is a good PSU for the price. I've had it for well over 3 years and had no problems what so ever. But if you are going to overclock or even upgrade to more power components in the future, its best you get the SuperNova. Still, a free PSU bundled with a GPU is a fantastic deal.
