Potentially faulty motherboard power issue, what should I replace?

I have this motherboard power issue, where sometimes my computer occasionally would stop outputting video during use. I have actually pinpointed it to a particular junction, the 24 pin motherboard cable not being somehow properly connected to the motherboard and the motherboard stops recieving power. I am not sure where the issue is, because I can fix the problem simply by shaking and fumbling around with the motherboard power cable until the computer works again (recieves power) (and restarting). My main plan probably is to replace the motherboard or the power supply, but I was wondering which I should do as I do not want to replace the whole PC again. What do you guys suggest? Do i even need to replace the power supply?

Solution
It literally could be either the 24-pin cable connector or the motherboard connector. The best you can do is examine both for any damage. And make your best guess.

The one thing that makes me lean towards the power supply cable is that the individual cables in the 24-pin connector can come loose. You can try gripping each wire in the 24- pin with needle-nose pliers and press it into the connector.

if you can borrow a power supply for testing you can determine if the PSU has the faulty connection or the motherboard.
if the new PSU fixes the issue your done. if the same behavior exhibits itself then the motherboard must be the culprit.
