I used ram drives many years ago and they were almost instantaneous. My Win 10 is paging with 8 GB ram. Why wouldn't that work on NVMe memory? I am not getting instantaneous response now. How do I stop paging(Computer writes to harddrive as if it was RAM)

Solution

There is your first problem ... "I use 32 bit Win 10 Pro" If that is true, then only 4GB of your 8GB is usable.

I have 32GB RAM total with 8GB of it used as a RAMdisk and a 500GB NVMe. I use the RAM disk to lower the writes to the SSD for things like browser cache and other cache type activity. I...

You are undoubtedly right. The NVMe I have has 250GB and it cost $100. There will never be that much RAM so why not use a RAM drive? I recall Ram Drives were very fast. How much difference would I detect between more RAM and NVMe? I have a i7 processor and I don't know why but I wait a lot. I guess I need a graphics card. I use 32 bit Win 10 Pro. I am doing a lot of investment research which require creating graphic charts, etc.

Thank you!!Actually thank every one who helped educate me. Everyone I talked to in the past focused on compatibility of 32 vs 64 and usually would tell me 32 bit would be better to have fewer problems. Very interesting in that no one ever brought up the fact that 32 bit only uses half of memory. That is a big deal. I failed to mention was a lot of mywork is looking at data on many sites on the internet. I end up with 20-30 windows open at the same time as I jump back and forth between the websites. It is hard to juggle all those windows. Any thoughts or applications that would help me. I really don't like chrome's book marking system because I us many bookmarks. Maybe I need a larger screen and keep more open so I can compare data with many more screens open.

You do have to be careful on when the RAM drive is created in the boot sequence compared to when a pagefile is accessed. You can end up in a situation where the OS has issues because the "disk" it thinks the pagefile should be on doesn't exist so you don't get ANY page file.
