GTX 980 MSI Afterburner Bad Overclock. Broken?

I need your help, guys.

I just tried to overclock my MSI GTX 980 using MSI Afterburner. I watched this guide and increased my core clock by 125 mHz. It was fine for a few seconds until I ran 3DMark 11 when my computer immediately restarted, and the screen was all glitchy.

Here's a picture and video I recorded of it. This is when it first happened thinking I could fix it using JayzTwoCent's instructions, but now I'm actually freaking out. I really don't want to lose my 980.

Here is what I've tried so far:

1. Going into safe mode and uninstalling MSI Afterburner

2. Resetting my CPU and RAM overclocks.

3. Uninstalling all Geforce Drivers and software

I can boot into safe mode with networking just fine, but the screen tears like in the picture on start up when I am using my GTX 980.

I would really appreciate any help.

you need to revert back the overclock changes. there is a reset button on afterburner.

and verify the clock with gpu-z or something. clean install driver all the usual goodies. i really hope you don't have to fresh install windows.

once you confirm clock is back and you are seeing junks (even after windows refresh install) , i would say the card is damaged.

I uninstalled MSI Afterburner without keeping the previous settings, so shouldn't that revert back the overclock changes?

I can only boot into safe-mode, and GPU-Z doesn't work on safe-mode, unfortunately.

I'm seriously baffled at how a 125 mHz change could break my card. I thought technology was past those days where you could damage your hardware with your software.

did you touch voltage? sometime it doesn't revert back the changes and override some system setting where it is not suppose to do.

back up your system file from safe mode, and try a fresh window install.

you can also try to run the card on another pc and see if you can see the error or not.

also, most of the cpu cards are pushed quite close to their limits, so yea. even-though rare, software oc could kill your card.

I didn't touch voltage at all. I just went and bought a 1070ti. Hope I didn't fry my motherboard or any other components.
