So, I have been having issues with my computer ever since I upgraded my computer back about 2 weeks ago. I turn on my computer, turns on fine, able to log in and leave on desktop. When I open games such as CS:GO and Garry's Mod, it stays on until I join a server or something, then crashes. Screen turns grey, I hear the audio loop for about a second, then it shuts off. My mouse and keyboard LEDs stay on, but it doesn't fix itself until I hard restart it. Did some research and thought it was the PSU, bought a CX 550 Corsair, but that doesn't seem to be the issue.

PC Specs:

GPU: XFX RX 470 4GB
CPU: AMD FX-8350
MOBO: Gigabyte AMD AM3+ 78LMT-USB3 R2
PSU: CX 550 Corsair
RAM: Crucial DDR3 8 GB (4GB X2)
Memory: 1 TB HDD

Solution
Too much thermal paste isn't going to do that (unless it's into the socket etc, of course).

Resetting the PC is only Windows/Software and, while it *might* work, it won't fix a hardware concern.

If I were you I'd downclock the CPU and undervolt - see if the problem persists.
If it doesn't, there's a good chance the motherboard is no longer stable.

If the system does not turn off, it may be a driver issue.

A full removal of GPU drivers with DDU (in safemode), reboot & reinstall may fix the issue.

The 125W TDP 8350 on that motherboard may be cause for concern too though.
The power delivery isn't great, and pushing 125W through the underwhelming VRM may be the cause of your issue - especially after a few years of use.

Did what you told me to, seemed to work for about an hour, then crashed again. Same problem consists. Leaning towards possibly too much thermal paste on my cpu or something to do with the motherboard. Resetting my pc tonight to see if there was possibly something wrong when I installed it and it will fix itself when I reset it. Any feedback about another possible solution would be nice.

For some reason I was worried I would screw something up when doing what you said, but it worked. No more crashes. Ill have to look more into motherboards before getting a cpu that is 125W. Thanks, really appreciate it.

MERGED QUESTION
Question from 20sean.walker : "Computer screen turns grey, then black, then reboots when Gaming."

I ve seen threads about this annoying problem with the RX cards. I had the same issue with my RX 460 which i suspect it to be caused during voltage regulation of memory chips. I had to flash another bios to make the card stable, which btw locked the voltage control.
First of all, to make sure it's the gpu, find a cheap spare gpu and see if the error is reproduced. Optimally, try this gpu in another system.
If it appears that the gpu is faulty, i suggest you contact XFX and describe the problem. They could send you a bios. I am sure they ve seen this problem before. AMD forum has several threads about this
