Best cpu for the price,gaming, productivity?

Hello I was wondering what’s the best cpu for gaming,productivity, and best bang for the buck?
It can be either amd or intel and it’s going to be paired with 16gb of ddr4 ram and a 1080 gpu.

Also your thoughts on amd tread ripper 1950x?

8600k, imo if you can find one for a decent price.

Price to performance I'd look at the Ryzen 5 2600 but it really depends on what your doing for productivity work.

The 9600K has the same amount of cores as the 8600K (6) however it's clocked higher stock and I'm interested in the fact that it's a soldered IHS.

you're right, 9700k is the 8 core(i'm kind of not understanding what the point of the chip is). soldered alone will be worth the price of admission on the new K series chips.
