Hello

I'm going to buy i5-8600 and cooler master hyper t2.
The cooler master comes with a little plastic bag which contains thermal paste.

In addition I have a syringe thermal paste Arctic MX-2 that I bought 5 years ago.

Should I use the thermal paste that came with the cooler or the one I bought 5 years ago?

Solution
You can use either.
The key is to use a small rice sized drop in the center.
It will spread out under heat and pressure.
It is hard to use too little.

I might add that the i5-8600 comes with a perfectly adequate stock cooler that will be just about as effective as the t2.

If your case can support a 160mm cooler, I highly recommend the $35 scythe kotetsu.

The paste that comes with the cooler master is not bad. I doubt that you would see more than 1 or 2 degrees C difference between the two pastes.
