Hello so Im looking for a relatively quiet hdd for my storage and games. My main drive is Crucial MX 500 SSD but is getting full.I also I have and seagate hdd 7200rpm but its pretty loud even at iddle.Im looking for the balance hdd performance/noise I was thinking about wd red 1tb 5400rpm but dont know if it will be problem when playing some AAA games on it like slow textures loading or anything like that. It has 64mb cache also the ms access speed time is 2ms. Also the db is rated only at 21db at load for the 1tb version compared to wd blue which is rated at 29db.Thx for help and have good time.

Solution

Then I would recommend WD Blue or Black 1- 4 TB 7200 RPM drives.
I have an HGST 4 TB NAS drive in a front ICY-DOck bay, and, it seems quiet enough that I'd imagine not being able to hear it were it inside my case .... (it does consistent 175 MB sec reads/writes on Crystal DiskMark....; a 7200 rpm drive, so, not slow)

few things...see if you can use windows power managemt to power down the hard drive when not needed. see if on your case you can add rubber spacers to keep hard drive spin noise from moving out. if your case has front cd rom drive bays see if you can install a ext drive bay that has some sound proofing.
