I'm considering buying an ssd for my computer, but was wondering if it'd be worth it just to put a couple games on it and not my OS, because I wouldn't know how to transfer it over.

Solution
If you can trim it down to below 200GB...

Specific steps for a successful clone operation:
-----------------------------
Verify the actual used space on the current drive is significantly below the size of the new SSD
Download and install Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration, if a Samsung SSD)
Power off
Disconnect ALL drives except the current C and the new SSD
Power up
Run the Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration)
Select ALL the partitions on the existing C drive
Click the 'Clone' button
Wait until it is done
When it finishes, power off
Disconnect ALL drives except for the new SSD
This is to allow the system to try to boot from ONLY the SSD
Swap the SATA cables around so that the new drive is...

Transferring the software is not necessarily hard.
But a few conditions must be met.

How much actual data space is consumed on your current drive?
What OS is this?
What size/make/model SSD are you considering?

I'm using about 600 GB on my HDD, Windows 10 OS, and planning on a Samsung 850 EVO 250GB 2.5-Inch drive

Well...600GB obviously won't fit into a 250GB drive.
So that leaves only a couple of options.

In order of benefit, decreasing...

1. A clean OS install on the new drive
2. Trim down to 200GB, and clone everything over.
3. Use the SSD as a secondary drive.

I can probably delete some games I no longer play, and be able to get it down to 200, how would I go about cloning it, would I need a certain program or could I do it through windows itself?

Swap the SATA cables around so that the new drive is connected to the same SATA port as the old drive
Power up, and verify the BIOS boot order
If good, continue the power up

It should boot from the new drive, just like the old drive.
Maybe reboot a time or two, just to make sure.

If it works, and it should, all is good.

Later, reconnect the old drive and wipe as necessary.
Delete the 450MB Recovery Partition, here:
