Why does RAM stack so well compared to VRAM? [Solved]

So if you put 2 8gb DDR4 sticks into your system, it's gonna show up as 16gb and scale super well. If you put in two, say, 1080's into your system (Each having 8gb GDDR5X memory) it barely even scales in a lot of games.
Why is this?

1. Because you're talking about 2 completely different concepts.

2. A game needs to be written to take advantage of 2x GPU's.

Unlike system RAM, you can't increase total VRAM simply by adding another GPU.

Dx12 was to allow stacking afaik but it's been years since and nothing of the like has happened. Dx12 was and is overrated. Look at BF1 :/
