Can gtx 1080 works well on my configuration and is this configuration good for gaming

Hello all,

I want to replace gtx 1060 6gb graphic card with ASUS rog 1080 strix graphic card below is my configuration please let me know anything need to be altered

CPU : I5 8400
Motherboard: MSI B360 VDH
Ram : Corsair 3000 MHz 8 GB
Ssd : 120 western digital
Hdd : 1 tb western digital
PSU: cooler master 550 watt

Does above configuration works well with gtx 1080 asus rog strix card

Your system can definitely handle a GTX 1080. But I would upgrade to 16gb of ram as 8 won't cut it newer games, especially with a 1080 where the graphics will be maxed out and you'll be getting higher FPS

One more thing was there is 8 pin and 6 pin on gtx 1080 asus card and I have a cable with both 8 pin and 6 pin do I need to connect both or do I need separate cable for 6 pin and 8 pin

Connect both using the same cable. That said, 550w is cutting it slightly close with a 1080 so I definitely wouldn't do any overclocking or increasing the power limit. Luckily the i5 is pretty low tdp so I wouldn't worry about it
