Hi there, i have a WD black 1TB (WD1001FALS-00Y6A0) which stopped spinning suddenly. I searched on the internet for any solutions and found out that the problem could be solved by replacing the board and bios. I found an old clicking WD blue 500gb (WD5000AAKS-00V6A0) having the same board number (2060-771640-005) with my friend and replaced the board with mine. I used my bios with that board. I powered that up and it started spinning but now problem is the drive spins for some seconds the stops ans then again on and offa repeatedly. What may be causing the issue?

If the other chip you transplanted really contains the firmware, then you are still missing the drive calibration data SPI-flash chip and the drive is failing to initialize because the parameters it gets from SPI don't match the drive's actual parameters, landing the drive in an unexpected state and the firmware aborting.

If you are talking about the Samsung mmc chip, i have also tried replacing it with mine hard drive. But it still starts and stops. And another thing please tell me what i can try?
Edit : i have read somewhere that the calibration data chip you are talking about is the same 8 pin bios chip that i had already replaced.
