So i'm planning on overclocking my 4690k. I haven't done this before but i've read a load of guides. There are a few settings in my bios that I'm not sure what to set them to.
For reference my motherboard is a z97M pro4, with 8gb of ddr3 ram at 1866mhz.
If someone could explain what to set the following to that would be a big help:

Intel Speed step ( i think this should be on so that it clocks down when idle.)
Intel Turbo Boost
CPU OC fixed mode
Multi core enchancement (this is having all cores running max frequency at all times according to the description)
Speed Spectrum

"CPU OC Fixed Mode" Only has enabled and disabled. There is no option for offset. The description of this setting is as follows:
Cpu oc fix mode can help you to keep the max cpu ratio as your setting without throttling, but overclocking may cause damage to your cpu and mobo.

Ok so im just wanting to cover all bases here before i do it. I understand that its possible to screw things up and in the event that it gets stuck in a loop when it tries to boot i would need to clear CMOS. I dont seem to have the jumper to do this. Im assuming it comes with the motherboard and i threw it away. Is it likely that this will occur and should i proceed without one?

Most settings you don't even need to mess with. You just need multiplier and vcore. Many mobos don't have jumpers. You just take the battery out. I typically turn the power off on the psu as well and push the power button. The point is to have no residual power (caps hold power) so it resets. Instead of waiting for a few minutes for it to drain itself.

So i started overclocking and increased multiplier from 35 to 38 one at a time and kept stress testing between. I realised that i hadnt increased the voltage and that my temps had increased without me manually increasing it. So i checked my bios and the link should show it. So i dont rly know which setting is vcore. So im guessing that I need to change the setting that the top arrow points to to adaptive and then I can change the voltage manually on the one below.

Im probably wrong tho.
any help is much appreciated.

So I overclocked my 4690k to 4.2 Ghz at 1.155 volts. It seems stable. I could go further but i don't have the greatest cooling solution. I had a look at task manager and it always says that the speed is ~4.2Ghz. I don't know whether or not this is just task manager being inaccurate or whether my cpu isnt throttling at idle.

Task manager:

How do i know if its throttling or not?

Yes it is set to high performance mode. I didn't realise that stopped throttling. Thank you! Ill move it back to balanced mode. Can confirm that it is now throttling at idle.
