Hello!

My GPU usage is dropping from 99% to 50% all the time in every game I play and I'm getting FPS drops. I have tried everything I can. Please help me :(

i7-7700K
GTX 1070 [OC]
16GB DDR4 2666MHz [XMP]
Windows 10 Home 64bit

The GPU usage is related to how intense the graphics is, and is the main factor of the frequency the GPU runs at.
Sometimes after a game updated, it become less GPU intensive due to optimizations.

Try monitoring the clocks to see if the GPU is running at full speed. if it isn't, try changing the power management mode in nVidia control panel > manage 3D settings to prefer maximum performance. If it still doesn't work, try to run Furmark at the background at 100x75 when playing rocket league.

good luck! report back

This is pretty clearly an issue of online play, which generally ups your CPU usage, or at least the draw call thread on a single core.

Benchmarks do not have the same overhead caused by online play with multiple users. There isn't the net code requirements either. The fact that your FPS are near 300, even when the usage drops, shows how pointless of an issue you have. Who really cares if your usage drops when you have 300 FPS?

I don't care if my game runs under 100 fps if it is STABLE. My game is not stable and i feel a fucking huge lagging when my GPU usage drops. That lag is HUGE. It's HUGE. Do you get that?

I've watched that video a few times and I have to agree that going from 350 down to even low 200's looks smooth as butter, no stuttering/lag that I can see. Lowering settings a little bit may stop some of the dips but your not going to be able to eliminate them 100% as it's a common thing in online gaming.

Also watch the language, this is a family friendly site.

The video didn't show any issues of lag. The issue likely due to putting too much stress on the CPU, and perhaps the game isn't well coded to handle such insane FPS. Try using DSR with a higher resolution. Try using a FPS cap, or v-sync. Your resolution is awfully low for such a high end system.

My resolution is 1920x1080 but youtube ruined the quality again and thats not the point. The point is to show you my GPU usage dropping down. I have tried FPS cap, v-sync and everything else.

Usage drop is standard fair for high end GPU's playing low demanding games. Your problems are not likely due to the usage, but something else. For that game, your GPU is way more power than needed for your resolution.

So capping your FPS at 144 (or similarly low) had no effect?

No effect if i cap my fps. I have tried to cap it even as low as 30 and the lag is as horrible as when the FPS is uncapped.

Read my new description for this thread.

The game performs a little better in single player but it is still lagging like hell.

I think you are experiencing a driver update. They usually fix things but in this case you and others are experiencing the same FPS drop. What it appears is happening within this thread is trying to correct an issue that lies at the source. Let's say I download a video that was recorded with a VCR. As such I get these odd lines at times that roll from the top to bottom and some distortion is visible near the bottom. A simple tracking issue can easily be fixed with a VCR or maybe clean the heads. I however only have a digital copy. Nothing I do can change the issue at the source. https://www.reddit.com/r/RocketLeague/comments/9ijqk6/the_v153_season_9_update_release_megathread/is one thread you've probably seen.

You have an issue with one game and the issue is the game, not your PC. They have the problem.

My opinion....

I have tried older driver too and same problem :/ (look my new description)

It's a problem with the game and reverting to an old driver wouldn't help which is why I didn't suggest that. I am not one that just says give up but the rules(driver) have changed and you can't change the rules back to the way they were.

Good luck with this issue. Please let us know when you fix it.

No one else is having GPU usage drops though, I asked all my friends :/

They probably aren't running a system capable of 300-400 FPS. The usage drops are because your GPU is not being challenged enough for your resolution. Use DSR at 4K and that would change.

Reward boosts are dropping FPS like no other. On every platform.

I have the same issue on PC. Game used to run at 60fps all the time, now I get lag and stutters in every map... I tried to lower texture quality, anti aliasing etc but I didn't see any improvements.

The bug: Random FPS stutters, I didn't experience these so before the update.

Platform: Steam

Remember the FPS cap suggestion?

think this has to do with the Season reward boosts. If anyone in my games uses them i get terrible stuttering and frame drops no matter how low i limit my fps!

The boost issue has been added to the known issues list at the top of this post, and we're working on a fix.

I think the community knows and is working on a fix.
