Hi,

I just got my myself a new gaming pc/workstation, the Acer Aspire GX-281 A710504 NL1 - Gaming Desktop.

(CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 1700
GPU: GTX 1050 ti
Memory: 12 GB RAM DDR4)

I would like to overclock the processor a bit, maybe from 3,0 Ghz to 3,6-3,7 Ghz to get similar performance with the 1700x and 1800x. I don't plan on running it 24/7. I also want to keep this CPU for at least 5 years so my question is, will it survive at least 5 years? I'm not experienced with overclocking so I'm a little scared of doing it wrong :)

I hope someone can help me with this!

I would not suggest doing so if you're not familiar with it and it won't be bottlenecking your 1050ti anyway
you can hardly feel the difference of overclocking your rig to 1700x speed

everyone wants that higher number for some reason.
just overclock if you want. the main reason why CPU die from OC'ing is excessive voltage. try for the lowest stable voltage possible by doing some IBT or prime95 stress test.

just think of why this PC does not come with a 1700x, and it's mainly because Acer don't want you to damage it easily and the thermal will not look good.

Before hatching any grand plans for overclocking your new rig you should check what motherboard Acer stuffed in it. Odds are pretty good it's an A320 chipset board and can't overclock the CPU.

You might get some joy from tweaking of memory though.

Yeah I've been trying to figure out what kind of motherboard it has but I can't find it aaaaanywhere. Not in the PC settings, not with Powershell, DirectX, or any of that. It's not even mentioned on the Acer site (https://www.acer.com/datasheets/2017/4871/GX-281/DG.E0FEH.002.html). Any idea where I can find it?
